Welcome to the Foundation for Adolescent Development, Inc.'s (FAD) Speak Out Button. The Speak Out button is an avenue for discussing adolescent issues and concerns among teenagers, and, of course, for you to get to know more about FAD and its projects.
The Forum (message boards) are built to discuss adolescent issues and concerns only. Please be guided by the message board rules below.
Message Board Use Rules
1. Please refrain from the use of vulgar language, harassing other users through racial or ethnic slurs, sexism, or slander. Please remember that the message boards are an extension of every www.teenfad.ph visitor's environment.
2. Do not use inappropriate images endorsing pornography, software and content piracy, or those that insult any individual or company.
3. Do not publicly re-post private e-mail, standard addresses, or personal numbers without the expressed written permission of the person involved.
4. Use only one username.
5. No personal attacks or insults are allowed. While the discussion may become heated, this is never an excuse to resort to attacks or insults. Violators will be warned and may be potentially banned.
6. Refrain from posting messages that are not related to the board's topic. Each of our boards has a particular topic. Please post only messages that relate to that topic. If you are posting a reply to another user's message and your reply will take the thread off-topic, please email it to the previous poster instead of posting it publicly, or edit it to keep the thread on-topic after your post.
7. Avoid posting messages repeatedly. We ask everyone not to post multiple copies of a message. If your question goes unanswered, it probably means either no one knows the answer or no one has an interest in the subject.
8. Quoting Previous Posts. If you are replying to the last post in a long thread, it is perfectly understandable to answer it. However, if you are replying to a post further back in the thread, you may want to include a quote from, or a short recap of, the post to which you are replying. This will help users who are reading the thread sequentially to figure out which post you are answering.
9. We encourage the use of emoticons. Words "spoken" on the Internet have no inflection. There is no easy way to tell just by looking at a typed sentence. Therefore, we encourage you to let your readers know what sort of expression you are "wearing" when you say certain things.
10. Avoid posting messages in all-caps. On the Internet, anything that you type in ALL-CAPITAL letters is considered to be "spoken loudly" or shouted. While this is an appropriate way to emphasize a word or two (such as "I absolutely LOVE the Speak Out Button!"), an entire message posted in all-caps is considered to be shouting and in bad taste.
11. Be accurate. When responding to a question, unless you're sure of your answer, it's best not to post a definite answer. Instead try the "something to the effect" style like "I think blah blah." That way the original poster will understand that this is pure speculation rather than a hard 'fact' and so will not be angry if it turns out to be wrong.
12. Respect. Above all else, respect others and treat them as you would like to be treated. Posting a thank-you to someone who has helped, or tried to help you, is a great way to encourage that person to continue helping. While we invite everyone to freely express themselves, we have the right to delete messages that fall way out of the bounds of good taste, so be on your best behavior while using our message boards!
